This Vardenafil compound actually makes the muscles and the blood vessels in the region to be relaxed and thus have their openings widened. This widening causes the blood in the vicinity to flow into the vessels causing them to swell up thus causing an erection. This is only the overall mechanism of action of the ED med. The Vardenafil compound is responsible for the stopping of the degrading action of the Phosphodiesterase Type 5 or PDE5in the body. This causes the cGMP in the body to last longer making the Corpus Cavernosum (the tissue that accounts for erections) and thus the person has erections that last longer and are firm enough. It should be noted that Levitra or any other ED medications are less than useful without stimulation.

Levitra is a FDA Approved (approved in 2003) medication that is manufactured by Bayer Pharmaceuticals in Germany and is often marketed as round, orange pills. Levitra usually shows its action in minutes and can last up to 5 hours.

Since Levitra is a strong ED med, there are certain precautions that need to be taken in the course of usage of this drug. Some of the precautions are:
  • Always inform your doctor about your allergies or any prior medications.
  • Never overdose
  • This medication is untested for the female physiology therefore the med should be avoided by women, until there is conclusive proof that the med is suitable for women.
  • People affected with any cardiac, renal or hepatic ailments should avoid the drug as it may result in the worsening of the ailment.
  • Never mix alcohol and Levitra as the blood pressure of the individual may come down to risky levels.

Levitra though not as popular as Viagra, is growing in awareness among the masses. However proper precautions should be maintained to reap full benefits of the ED med.
