Is Viagra really as effective as advertised?


The world today is filled with so much stress that it has started affecting our health. Muscular pain, various cardiac or respiratory ailments are penetrating our society like they belong there.

What is Erectile Dysfunction?

The arteries relax and open up to let more blood to flow in; at the same time, the veins close up. Once blood is in the penis, pressure traps it within the corpora cavernosa. Your penis expands and holds the erection. When the inflow of blood stops and the veins open, your penis becomes soft.

What happens in erectile dysfunction?

The arteries that are meant to relax don’t and as a result the blood cannot enter the chambers of the penis. As a result the person is unable to gain an erection. Most often erectile dysfunction is an underlying symptom of other serious ailments that have a higher risk factor. Ailments like cardiac ailments or neural ailments can largely be a determining factor for the condition of erectile dysfunction. Lack of sexual stimulation can also be a cause of erectile dysfunction.

So is erectile dysfunction incurable?

Absolutely not!

Medical science has gifted us with means to tackle the problem efficiently. There are various mechanical devices, medications and exercises that can be prescribed by the doctor for your benefit.

Viagra is the world’s first oral ED pill. Viagra is an FDA Approved ED drug (1998). Viagra is usually marketed as a blue, diamond pill having the logo of the Pfizer Laboratories on one side. The active ingredient in Viagra is Sildenafil Citrate, which is a PDE5 inhibitor.

In simple terms, these compounds relax the arteries and widen their opening thus allowing blood to flow in. This causes an erection that is firm and lasts adequately long enough for intercourse.

Is Viagra safe?

Yes Viagra is safe for use. It is one of the most popular medications for erectile dysfunction. There have been so many reports of successful treatment of erectile dysfunction with Viagra. There are however some precautions that need to be taken to prevent any harmful effects that may come upon the health of the person.
Following are some of the common precautions:
  • Never take Viagra with nitrate medication
  • Never take Viagra with grapefruit
  • Never take Viagra with alcohol.

Drinking alcohol decreases the blood which stays within your penis, which makes it harder for you to get an erection. If you’re taking Viagra because you have had erection problems in the past, you should avoid alcohol.



In addition, alcohol and Viagra (and similar products like Viagra Connect or Sildenafil) can interact. Viagra lowers your blood pressure, as does alcohol. If your blood pressure level gets too low, you may experience dizziness, light-headedness, fainting, headache and even heart palpitations. Having these Viagra side effects isn’t just potentially dangerous - it also certainly doesn’t improve your sexual performance.
